Kohima Sumi Hoho (KSH) has condemned the “unfortunate incident” on June 22 at SKV Petrol Pump, Kohima, where one Heto Yepthomi son of Dr. K.C. Nihoshe, threatened the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) officials using tribal identity hurting the sentiments of the Angami and tarnished the image of the Sumi community as well. KSH warned any Sumi individual misusing the Sumi identity in the future. A press release issued by KSH general secretary, Lhokiye Yeputhomi said such “careless statements” could deepen the misunderstanding among the peace loving Naga citizenry. Anyone from any tribe in their right wisdom should desist from flaring up tribal issues, he said. The KSH “highly appreciated” the AYO for amicably resolving the matter and restraining from using physical force, but with a “gentlemanly matured” approach by handing over the accused to the police. “This spirit of forgiveness for the sake of brotherhood should be practiced by one and all,” the KSH said.
