St. Joseph College with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm welcomed almost a thousand freshers into the college from almost all Northeastern States and as far as Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Gracing the occasion as chief guest Minister for PHED Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao exhorted the students to make their learning relevant and useful to society and not to add to the number of unemployed youth in the state. Further he warned the students against becoming slaves of unhealthy habits instead to take good care of their health, physical, spiritual and emotional.
The programme began with the curtain raiser by college choir rendering “Praise the Lord.” Mathew L. Konyak, President of the Students’ Council welcomed the gathering. The Zeliangrong students of the college presented a beautiful folk dance. In his address, the Principal, Fr. Isaac Padinjarekuttu, welcomed the Freshers and exhorted them to make best use of the facilities which are provide by the college and to grow up into men and women of integrity and hard work.
