Hyundai to launch Santa Fe by year-end

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) launched Verna Transform in the city on Friday. The company plans to launch Santa Fe by November this year. HMIL also proposes to enter into the small car segment (800cc) in the next two years, stated DNA report.
The company expects that the sales of Verna will grow by 33% in 2010, with sales number reaching 2,000 cars per month from 1,500 per month in 2009.
Speaking on the occasion, YK Koo, Sr director, sales and marketing, said, "Ahmedabad market has a great potential for growth. There is a growth of 53% in the city with 56% in the compact car segment, 36% in the mid-car segment and 83% in the premium car segment."
The company would now focus on domestic market and in the overseas markets, it would shift focus from European market to Africa, Middle-East and South-American countries, added Koo.
The Chennai plant, which has a capacity to produce 6 lakh cars per annum, can be expanded to 6.5 lakh per annum with an increase in demand, Koo said.
