Reacting to NSCN (I-M) ato kilonser Th. Muivah’s current visit to “Ao country” the GPRN/NSCN Ao region accused Muivah of taking undue advantage of the present reconciliation process by sowing seeds of disunity which was against the very principle of reconciliation.
MIP Kilonser and Ao region supervisor, Meren Nokpu said if there was any mandate given by the Ao Nagas to any group; it was purely to uphold the sovereign right of the Nagas. He maintained that Aos have never mandated Th. Muivah to pursue integration issue ahead of political solution.
Further, he claimed that many tribes, village authorities and intellectuals had expressed reservations and unwillingness to welcome Muivah since the “tears of the parents, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends of those mercilessly killed by IM in the name of the nation had not dried”. He said welcoming Muivah would be insult to injury and that crimes committed may be forgiven but not forgotten. Nokpu also said the peace and reconciliation mission undertaken by Muivah’s in Nagaland was “a short story of concoction, contradiction, massive face-saving campaign, violating the covenant of common hope.”
Taking a dig at Muivah, he said even with the Z plus security provided by the government of India along with heavily armed NSCN (I-M) cadres; Muivah could not visit his own home state of Manipur and forced to stay at Viswema village. “A man who boasted in the media more than a month ago, that “…no power on earth can stop me from visiting my birth place.” is still loitering around Nagaland” Nokpu said.
