In an apparent reaction to Kohima District Congress Committee’s criticism over government’s partial attitude towards bandh calls, the Naga students’ federation (NSF) Tuesday said that it had imposed ban on movement of Manipur registration vehicles within Naga inhabited area to show its resentment against Manipur government.
According to NSF, the decision to impose ban on Manipur registration vehicles evolved when Manipur government barred its members from visiting “its people”, who were inflicted to the extreme under imposition of “draconian law”, so also Oinam village, Senepati, where its 3rd federal assembly was scheduled to be held last May 7 last.
Congress party June 28, while criticizing DAN government’s claim to deliver justice and equal treatment, had stated that when it called for 12-hour state-wide bandh government termed “illegal and unlawful”, however, when NSF called for NH-39 bandh for an issue that pertained to Manipur state, the chief minister turned “blind eye”.
On the backdrop of “Naga identity and basic right being pushed to the extreme by the Manipur government,” the NSF general secretary O.Wati Jamir said they were left with no option but react in order to protect the “rights of its people.”
Maintaining that as a social organization it was fully committed to cause of the people, the NPF appealed to all section of the society to extend its support in pursuing any pertinent issue.
