NSCN (I-M) general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah who is currently stationed at Mokokchung visited Longkhum village, the birth place of Late Imkongmeren the then vice president of NNC.
Upon reaching the village, Muivah and his entourage went straight to the graveyard of Late Imkongmeren and paid homage to the departed leader. Delivering a brief speech there, Muivah said there were only persons whom he admired the most who were Late A.Z Phizo and Late Imkongmeren. He said that the decision of these two leaders to form NNC saved the Naga nation from getting lost adding “it was the right decision at the right time.”
Muivah said that he came to Longkhum in honour of the person who saved the Naga nation. He likened the two Naga leaders as Moses who led the Israelites. An emotional Muivah shed tears as he laid a wreath on the grave of Late Imkongmeren and uttered “We will not betray you.” He then proceeded to have a meeting with the villagers at Chungli Lenden.
After the meeting, the general Secretary went to Mangmetong village to pay homage to his departed friend Late Tajenyuba.
