Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC) has revealed that there are 63 pending cases of crime against women in the state. NSCW member, Abeni TCK said in a press release, that commission members and legal consultants have visited all the districts courts in the state and collected data of pending cases from the respective offices. She informed that pending cases collected so far per district indicated 17 cases at Kohima, 16 at Wokha, 13 at Dimapur, five at Mokokchung, three each at Phek and Zunheboto, and two each at Peren, Mon and Tuensang. The NSWC has appealed to responsible authorities to take up the cases and deliver justice without delay. Meanwhile, NSWC lauded the judiciary of the court of District and Session Judge Dimapur, Hukato Swu, for prompt delivery of justice with regard to Darogapathar Dimapur rape case which occurred on March 25, 2009. Commission members expressed hope that the same prompt delivery of justice would be applied to the mentioned similar pending cases in different district courts, which would go a long way in gaining public trust in the functioning of the judiciary in Nagaland, the release added.
