By receiving the awards for securing the highest enrollment percentage in the implementation of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) scheme in the country and the best performing state in the North East region, Nagaland has added another feather to its cap.
Government of India, which has been closely monitoring the implementation of RSBY scheme throughout the country, announced this award at the national workshop on RSBY, a national health insurance scheme for the un-organised workers with special reference to the BPL families, being held in Chandigarh July 2 and 3.
A press communiqué from directorate of labour, project officer Yanger Aier said Nagaland have been able to reach 80%, which no other state has achieved – issuing RSBY smart cards to the beneficiaries.
The project officer stated that about 3000 beneficiaries have already availed free access to health through the empanneled hopitals in the state amounting to Rs. 1.73 crore.
“We are continuing to get more beneficiaries day by day,” he said, adding the department of labour was implementing the scheme through New India Assurance Co. Ltd. as the insurance company.
The scheme has been extended to four districts such as Kohima, Peren, Phek and Mokokchung.
During the current financial year 2010 – 2011, the department would be covering the entire state, he said.
It may be mentioned that the project officer received individual award on Individual achievement in programme implementation of RSBY in the country during previous National Workshop held in Thiruvananthapuram.
