Governor felicitates HSLC, HSSLC toppers

Governor of Nagaland, Nikhil Kumar, on Monday felicitated HSLC and HSSLC toppers 2010 with awards and gold medals during a felicitation programme at Raj Bhavan.
HSLC topper Omegali from Stella Higher Secondary School; HSSLC topper in Science Debasish Chowdhury from Pranab Vidyapith; HSSLC topper in Commerce Salma Khan from Christian Higher Secondary School and HSSLC topper in Arts Thejalhoukho from Mezhür Higher Secondary School were awarded with gold medals, certificate and cash award of Rs. 25,000 each. Other HSLC and HSSLC top securers were also felicitated.
Congratulating the students, governor Nikhil Kumar said that it was a crucial stage for students to decide their study stream which would later determine their career. He expressed optimism that education department of the state would provide good education base for students to excel. He called upon the education minister and commissioner of the department to chalk out more plans to encourage and guide students.
Nikhil Kumar further complimented his predecessors for conceptualizing the system of interacting with toppers. He said that it was his privilege to be carrying around the legacy and further added that interaction would benefit students to learn beyond classroom knowledge.
Minister for School Education and SCERT, Nyeiwang Konyak urged students to commit from the beginning so as to fight for the fittest and attain higher positions in life. He also felicitated them and encouraged them to continue to put in more efforts in their studies.
The programme was attended by commissioner of Higher and Technical Education, F. P. Solo; officials from school education department and Nagaland Board of School Education, heads of school institutions and parents. The programme was chaired by Nini Meru, chairman, NBSE.
