Four colonies under DMC ward 12 including Lengrijan, hill view colony, Ao khel and industrial estate colony in response to the news item “Industrial Village Razhupe on DMC ward 12” which appeared on June 10 stated that the matter involved clarification of facts and records in the interest of the inhabitants of DMC ward 12.
The colonies in a press statement said the DMC ward 12 covering areas on north Lengri Nullah, on south Diphu road (NH-36), east circular road and on west Lengri Nullah was constituted by the government of Nagaland vide notification no TC/HOME-36/2003 dated Kohima the September 30, 2003 issued by the additional chief secretary. During the last DMC election along with other wards, it said election was also held in ward 12 without any objection with regard to the areas of the ward constituted by the notification.
It also said that the signatories of the earlier press statement were bonafide voters in DMC ward 12 electoral rolls and willingly cast their votes during the last DMC election.
Stating that though T.L Angami may claim any part of the soil to be his village, the colonies said he must establish his claim with lawful documents and recognition of village with its definite boundaries was vested with the powers of the government.
It further went on to add that there was no government notification and order recognizing the “so claimed” Industrial village Razhüphe nor Razhüphe village and stated a “self claimed” village which has never been recognized and notified by the government should not be allowed to disturb the peaceful atmosphere and co-existence in any part of DMC ward 12 areas.
The colonies also stated that it learnt of T.L Angami and his associates “intimidating and obstructing” enumerators detailed in the current census operation in DMC ward 12 particularly in areas around DC office and said such “criminal activities” should be curbed and census operation in the areas of DMC ward 12 should be allowed to be proceed and completed smoothly without leaving out any part.
