Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will soon meet leaders of the National Convention, which has been formed to facilitate talks between the government and the banned ULFA, in order to take the peace process forward.
Dr Singh expressed his willingness to meet the leaders and conveners of the Convention at a meeting with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at New Delhi today, as reported by UNI.
“The Prime Minister is interested in meeting the National Convention leadership to take the peace process with ULFA forward,’’ Gogoi was quoted as stating. The meeting will be soon arranged, the Chief Minister added. He also apprised the prime minister of the present situation in the state.
Gogoi had said earlier ULFA leaders have convened their desire to start the peace parleys and both sides were working on creating a conducive environment.
