Dabi pleads Centre for Army brigade in Tirap

Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Tako Dabi has pleaded Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for deployment of an Army brigade in insurgency-hit Tirap district of the state to deal with underground elements. Official sources here today said Dabi, who was presently in the national capital, submitted a three-point memorandum to Chidambaram yesterday.
Dabi, in his memorandum, demanded for the Army brigade with its base either at Khonsa or Longding for effective tackling of insurgency problem in the district.
The memorandum also pleaded for deployment of separate Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) battalion to control and contain the activities of the proscribed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) along the Assam-Arunachal inter state boundary, as reported UNI.
He urged a separate ITBP battalion may be posted at Doimara in West Kameng district for guarding the inter state boundary areas right from Balijan in Papum district to Bhutan borders all along the inter state boundary areas of both the states.
The State Home Minister also requested Chidambaram to release Rs six crore in advance for raising one battalion each of home guard and civil defence force in the state.
