CDPO released

After abductors held him captive for ransom for 12 days in Assam, Mangkolemba CDPO T. Sashi was released Wednesday evening. Sashi and his driver, were on their way to Dimapur along with police at the time of filing this report. Sashi was abducted in Hojai, Assam on June 4, along with his driver after they went for some work there. It was not known if any ransom was paid as demanded by the abductors. Meanwhile, according to sources miscreants involved also attempted to hold hostage some members of Muslim Council Dimapur who had been camping at Hojai to obtain Sashi’s release. Two persons were arrested as suspects by Assam Police but their identities were not revealed. (Staff Reporter)
HM grateful: Meanwhile, Nagaland Home Minister Imkong L. Imchen in a statement said he was “very much relieved” by the rescue of Sashi and lauded all those responsible for the successful operation. The minister in particular acknowledged the “strenuous efforts” put in by Nagaland police especially SP Dimapur Liremo and his team of officers. Imchen also expressed gratitude to government of Assam, especially SP Nagaon and his team. The minister also expressed gratitude to the members of the Muslim Council Dimapur for extending assistance to Nagaland and Assam Police during the stages of negotiation with the abductors. He also hoped that both Assam and Nagaland police would put their best efforts to bring to book those criminals involved.
