Committee for UID

Commissioner and secretary for planning and coordination department has been given the charge to act as secretary to State Unique Identification Number (UID) Empowered Committee.
An official notification issued by Nagaland chief secretary, Lalthara stated that, there would be no other changes in the constitution of the committee.
Further, the notification added that State Level Implementation Committee constituted to assist the empowered committee in implementing UID project has been reconstituted with chief secretary, Lalthara as chairman, additional CS & development commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir; additional CS & commissioner, Banuo Z. Jamir; principal secretary, C. J. Ponraj; commissioner & secretaries- R. B. Thong, Viketol Sakhrie and Temjen Toy; secretaries- K. T. Sukhalu, T. C. Sangtam, B. Thawang Konyak, Benjamin Newmai; and representative of UIDAI as members, and commissioner & secretary for planning and coordination, Mhonbemo Patton as member secretary.
UID is a recently finalized initiative by the Government of India to create and manage a centralized identification system for all the adult citizens and residents of India, which can be utilized for a variety of identification purposes.
