Incessant rains damage road, building in Kohima, Mokokchung

Incessant rain has created destruction in parts of Kohima and Mokokchung with reports of landslides and road damages.
In Kohima the recently constructed road at Lower area lower Chandmari colony by South Division (R & B) Kohima was badly affected. The road construction which was completed in the month of March showed signs of crack in the middle of the road posing threat to commuters. Hoshito Assumi GB Lower Chandmari and John Kath, Secretary Panchyahat Lower Chandmari colony has called upon state government for special attention for immediate necessary action.
Meanwhile, in Mokokchung heavy rain in the past four days caused landslides at different places causing damages to residential houses, retaining walls and drainage systems.
On Tuesday, rain triggered landslides at Fazl Ali College Mokokchung, at one side of the three storied building Science Stream, damaging of Physics laboratory set up at the ground floor.
Principal of the college, Kuholi Chishi reported the incident to the district administration. SDO (Civil) Nungsangmenla visited the college to ascertain the damage caused to the building, particularly the laboratory. Following the landslide, two pillars of the stairway connecting the Science Stream building with the premises of the main building were forced to hang precariously.
Principal informed that the new three storied building was constructed out of the fund contributed by legislators from Mokokchung district. The principal said the situation called for immediate attention to protect further occurrences and the need to set laboratory in order.
