NGOs, administration in Wokha meet on census

A joint meeting between NGOs and district administration on was held on June 15 at DC’s conference hall. The meeting was attended by Kyong Hoho, Kyong Eloe Hoho, Kyong Students Union, Advisory Board Members Wokha Town Council, Colony Chairman and GBs. The discussion was focused mainly on ongoing census operation and sanitation.
SDO (C) Wokha Vyasan R. IAS, while giving a brief guideline on census said census meant ‘Head Count’ and further added that census exercise was completely different from electoral role exercise and appealed to entire resident to give factual census figure. DC Wokha, Rovilatuo Mor also highlighted about ongoing census in the district and acknowledged enumerators, for their efforts.
He also appealed to various organisations in the district and general public for cooperation towards success of the census.
The meeting also resolved to organise mass social work on June 26 where minister for agriculture, was expected to take part in the social work. The house also resolved to issue an administrative order to ban stray dogs and cows in the town and appealed the shop owners and residents not to dump waste materials on the road and drainage, and requested the colony chairman and GBs for supervision in order to keep the town clean.
A team of delegates from Kohima comprising of Naga Hoho, Naga Mothers Association, Naga Students Federation, Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation, Nagaland GBs Federation who were in the district with the objective to assist the enumerators also attended the meeting.
