Apex body of Sumi organizations, the Sumi Hoho has unanimously resolved to oppose the proposed visit of NSCN (I-M) general secretary, Th. Muivah to Pughoboto on June 21 which falls within its jurisdiction. Sumi Hoho president, Hokishe Yepthomi and general secretary, Kitoho S. Rotokha said the resolution was adopted during its executive meeting on Friday which had a thread-bare discussion on the proposed visit. It said that the meeting discussed the past statements made on the Sumis by the NSCN (I-M) under the leadership of Muivah which sowed the “seeds of discord” between the NSCN (I-M) and Sumi. Also considering the “banning of Sumi” by the NSCN (I-M), the Sumi apex body questioned as to what “moral right” Muivah has to visit Sumi soil. Muivah, who is currently engaged in talks with Centre’s interlocutor R S Pandey, had wanted to visit his ancestral village in Manipur but was denied permission by that state.
