The 30th annual day of the Chumoukedima Village Youth Society (CVYS) was held at the village council hall, Chumukedima new village on Saturday.
Chumukedima Town Council chief advisor Thepfulhoutuo Shuya who graced the occasion as the chief guest exhorted the youth on the importance of getting to one’s roots to keep the tradition alive. He told them that values were their roots and success their wings, the combination of which meant achieving value-based success in life. He urged the youth of Chumoukedima village to ponder whether they were achieving success as desired and if the environment they lived in was contributing to their success. Shuya said the youth of the village should agree that none of them were successful in life due to presence of jealousy, hypocrisy, backbiting, hatred and so on. He urged them to do away with such factors which breed negativity among themselves.
Pointing to the almost regular sell of plots but without any progress, Shuya urged the youth to change the present style of living, sow the seeds and enjoy the harvest by adopting work culture and saving wealth. He told the youth to avail the opportunities provided by the DAN government which had declared 2010-2011 as the year of entrepreneurs. He encouraged the youth of Chumoukedima village to set an example for the rest of the Naga youth through positive actions and deeds.
The annual day programme was held in traditional fervour and colour where all the youth both boys and girls were attired in traditional dresses. CVYS president Medochuzo Medoze delivered the welcome address.
The day long programme was marked with folk songs, extempore speech and various other competitions among the youth. The programme was also graced by village elders, GB, parents and well wishers.
