Phom Laivangh Pangthai (Phom Students Conference) during its inspection on July 7 to District Hospital Longleng observed that the hospital was facing shortage of doctors.
In a press statement Phom Laivangh Pangthai general secretary Shahsha L Phom said four contractual doctors have been transferred from District Hospital Longleng against which one senior specialist and one senior medical officer were posted.
However, both the newly posted doctors have only submitted their joining reports in the first week of July and were yet to report to their assigned duties.
According to Phom Laivangh Pangthai the present district hospital was manned by a Medical Superintendent, one junior specialist, one medical officer and dentist who were working round the clock.
Phom Laivangh Pangthai revealed that there was no gynecologist or surgeon posted in the district hospital and most of the patients were referred outside.
Phom Laivangh Pangthai has urged the authority in charge for timely intervention.
