The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Shillong launched a new journal that promises to provide greater flexibility to the readers with provision for subscribing select articles instead of procuring an entire issue.
The publication, titled ‘IIM Journal of Management Science’, aims to discuss specific business related problems and provide an international forum for discussion of advancements in all areas of business and management. The first issue of the journal was released on June 18.
“The good news about the journal is that one does not need to subscribe to an entire issue, but can just download online or subscribe to a single article even before it goes to print,” IIM-Shillong director Ashoke Dutta told Nagaland Post.
He said the aim of journal was to provide a platform for dissemination and to share innovative research achievements and practical experiences to stimulate scholarly debate in the development of management science and decision making.
The new publication also allows the readers to access articles even before the journal comes out in print every six months. “Once an article is vetted by the editorial committee and is ready for publication, it is immediately uploaded on its website and therefore the readers will not have to wait for the bi-annual release of the journal,” said Dutta. He further claimed that it was the first of its kind effort in the country.
The journal provides scholars with informative research-based articles to advance the research agenda and help managers with practical recommendation to grow their business.
“Our main thrust is on innovation, inclusiveness, adaptability, hunger for entrepreneurship, energy, agility, drive, networking, technology leadership and to achieve excellence by synergizing complementary competencies within the team and the organization charged with the aspiration for a broader vision and a higher purpose,” the IIM-Shillong Chief said.
IIM-Shillong also became the first B-school in the country to introduce Chinese as a second language in its curriculum keeping in view of the growth of China in the global market.
