After spending more than two months traversing across the state, general secretary of the NSCN (I-M) Th Muivah finally left for Delhi along with a nine member team to continue the parley with the government of India. However the dates for the talks have not been fixed, Muivah said. The other members of the group who went along with him included ‘Gen’. Atem, Q Tuccu, A Puni, Pam Shim, K. Mero, T. T. Among, T. S. Thumbha, Imcha Longkumer and V.Makrietsu.
Interacting with media persons at Dimapur Airport before departure, the ‘ato kilonser’ of the NSCN (I-M) maintained that his trip across the state was a successful one and lauded the Naga people for their eagerness and willingness to welcome him wherever he went. “People turned up in big numbers…welcomed us in a very special way” he said. Dismissing reports that people in some area were averse to his visit, Muivah claimed that there was no place where his visit was objected or rejected. “It was just that we gave them short notice that’s why” he pointed out. Muivah also went on to add that the people were willing to invite him after sometime.
Emphasizing on the importance of support from the people, Muivah pointed out that the strength of any political movement depended on the people. He also lauded the decision taken by leaders such as Phizo and stated that the Naga people owe their existence to them.
On being asked whether he was disappointed for not being able to visit his village, Muivah replied that it was not a big issue and was natural which was meant to happen. He also further affirmed that he will come back to the state.
