As per the directives from the union ministry of home affairs, six companies of 11 NAP (IR) Thursday left for Andhra Pradesh by train for the upcoming by-election duty. The by-elections to the 12 Assembly seats in Telangana region would be held on July 27. These are vacancies created by politicians who resigned in protest over what they describe as the lack of support from the Centre and the state government for a separate Telangana state.
The personnel were led by commandant K. Mero, two dy. commandants, seven assistant commandants and a medical team led by Dr. Among. Speaking to this reporter at Dimapur Railway station, commandant K Mero said entire battalion would be deputed for various election duties and would return by first week of August.
DGP K Kire also confirmed about the movement of the 11 NAP (IR) for Andhra Pradesh. Further, he disclosed that ministry of home affairs had actually asked for 10 companies but could not be fulfilled.
It may be noted that Andhra Pradesh June 21 last had sought 80 companies of paramilitary forces, or nearly 8,000 troopers, from the central government for by-elections to 12 assembly seats in Telangana region.
The polls would be held in assembly segments of Sirpur, Chennur, Mancherial, Yellareddy, Nizamabad (Urban), Koratla, Dharmapuri, Huzurabad, Siddipet and Warangal West, Vemulawada and Sircilla.
