Phek pensioners physical verification
DIMAPUR: Physical verification of Phek treasury pensioners would be conducted on July 27 and 28. All pensioners drawing pension pay from Phek treasury have been informed to report to the treasury office Phek.
DGBA meeting postponed
DIMAPUR: General meeting of District GBs Association Presidents has been postponed. A press release issued by NGBF president K Vikuto Zhimomi informed that the executive members of the districts have consented to the request.

DIMAPUR: General meeting of Dimapur Sumi Baptist Akukuhou has been convened on July 18, 11: 30 a.m.
NCSA, NPSA, NSSA, FONSESA meeting
DIMAPUR: An emergency meeting of NCSA, NPSA, NSSA and FONSESA has been convened on July 20. According to the associations, the meeting would discuss on core demand of fixation of revised pay at pre-revised prevalent DA rate of 2.21 during 2008 and not 1.86 as per fitment formula as notified by the government.
Poly house construction training
DIMAPUR: Low cost poly house construction training would be starting from July 20 at Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, 6th mile at 9am. All trainees have been requested to reach on time to the venue. Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency in collaboration with horticulture department would also be developing a prototype of a low cost bamboo poly house.
Registration of private livestock
DIMAPUR: All private livestock and poultry farmers engaged in private farms (Cattle, piggery, duckery, sheep, goat and poultry) in Dimapur have been informed to register in the distinct veterinary office, Dimapur for preparation of district profile on or before July 26.
ABAM to release live concert video
DIMAPUR: Ao Baptist Church Council (ABAM) would be releasing a Live Concert Video DVD on Sunday at Dimapur Ao Baptist Church, Duncan Basti at 9am during its devotional service.
NCRC prayer centre anniv programme
DIMAPUR: NCRC prayer centre 5th anniversary Sunday service will start at 10 am. Rev Vevozo Vangphong would deliver the message and Chatouphe youth and Angami CRC Burma camp choir would feature the programme. The evening programme would be at 6 pm where Akhato F/S of Ainato prayer centre would chair the service and Rev Dr N Paphino would give the valedictory message. The programme will be followed by song presentation by Tenyiphe youth, Sovima youth and Sodziilhou youth choir.
AYO presidential council meeting
KOHIMA: Angami Youth Organization (AYO) will be holding its presidential council meeting on August 7 at 10 am at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima. All major issues and concerns raised during AYO intensive tour programme of four Angami regions will be deliberated and resolutions passed by presidential council will be enforced in all Angami regions. AYO informed that it was mandatory for all presidents of the regional and village units to attend the meeting. Meanwhile, AYO has thanked Chakhro Youth Organization, Northern Angami Youth Organization, the Southern Angami Youth Organization and Western Angami Youth Organization for accompanying AYO team during the intensive tour program. AYO also thanked host villages for their hospitability during the tour.
VC declares Ph.D in chemistry
DIMAPUR: Vice chancellor, NU, has declared T Tiakaba Jamir to be provisionally qualified for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Chemistry of Nagaland University which is subject to ratification by academic and executive council of the university. The topic of the thesis is ‘Physiochemical studies and trace elemental analysis of spring and well water in and around the major districts of Nagaland’ Regd No-224/2005 with Dr. R K Bhubon Singh as the supervisor.
ASOTN new president
DIMAPUR: Incumbent president of Association of Subordinate Officials of Treasuries, Nagaland (ASOTN) Kesovilhou on his promotion as sub-treasury officer has relinquished his post. ASOTN informed that vice president Khoto will take over as its new president as per the constitution of the association till the expiry of its term in 2011.
Training on vegetable crop
DIMAPUR: Block Technology Team (BTT) Mon block ATMA conducted a training programme on vegetable cultivation and role of procedural functioning awareness for self-help groups (SHGs) at Mon on July 9. Department of agriculture assistant soil chemist and BTT Mon convener, Burwati Longkumer and KVK Aboi pathologist, Martha were the main resource persons for the programme. Objectives and advantages of vegetable crop cultivation were imparted during the training while the second session of the programme emphasized on the role and functioning of SHGs in developmental stream such as ATMA. A total of 37beneficiaries from various SHGs attended the training.
Social work at Rajbari
DIMAPUR: In connection with the proposed visit of members of XIXth Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Rally in Dimapur on July 23 and to Kachari Rajbari ruins, Kachari Rajbari Preservation Committee (KRPC) would be organizing a social work on July 20 at Rajbari premises from 7am. All Kachari citizens have been requested to extend help in the interest of the community and citizens of Dimapur.
MBC literary week
DIMAPUR: Mangkolemba Baptist Church, (MBC) Christian Education Department organized a literary meet from July 8-11 on the theme “Children with different colors” with Meren Lemtor and his wife as resource persons and Toshi Longkumer as singspiration leader. The purpose of the program was to enlighten the multi faced potentialities in every child. Around 350 children attended the program with great enthusiasm where children took active role in various activities besides Bible lesson and songs. Children were taught to make many interesting things out of papers, clothes and bamboo.
Naga potato growers’ tour Delhi
DIMAPUR: A team of potato progressive farmers from Nagaland participated at India International Potato Expo 2010 at NASC complex, New Delhi from July 8-9. The expo focused on role of research, development for sustainable use of new technologies, selection of quality seeds for better yield in potato, and global scenario of food security and role of potato production and business development. The state team has expressed appreciation to ATMA Nagaland and state department of agriculture for sponsoring the tour, and SMS Wokha & officer in charge of the tour, M. Ben Lotha for his efforts during entire trip.
LP Kohima seizes IMFL
KOHIMA: In accordance with Lerie Panchayat’s resolution banning and selling of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Lerie colony, Kohima, Lerie Panchayat with Lerie women and youth organization, conducted raids at various shops and liquor joints at Lerie colony on June 26. numbers of assorted IMFL bottles were seized.
The seized IMFL bottles were later destroyed after a brief but solemn ceremony on Friday near Lerie taxi stand in the presence of Lerie Panchayat members and Lerie women and youth organization.
