In a representation to the additional chief secretary and commissioner Nagaland, the village council Shemnyüching under Longleng district has issued a rejoinder with regard to the tense situation prevailing in Mokokchung-Longleng border. Chairman, village council Shemnyüching, H Baükap Phom stated that both the DCs of Longleng and Mokokchung were supposed to have a joint meeting on July 13 at Lushei valley Anaki (C) for finalization of border dispute between Mokokchung-Longleng district.
On hearing this, over hundred villagers of Namsang area and Tamlu along with the area political leaders gathered at Lushei valley Anaki (C) to witness the meeting relating to the border dispute. However, the villagers were sent back to the respective villages on July 12 as per the direction received from DC Longleng C.K. Nikekhu Sema stating that no public were allowed to attend the said meeting except for few selected representatives from both sides.
The council also expressed surprise that the DC Mokokchung Lithrongla G. Chishi visited the disputed area despite knowing the fact that the said meeting to be held on July 13 was cancelled by commissioner of Nagaland stating that there might be some untoward incident as a result of the meeting.
The DC Mokokchung was said to have been accompanied by some Anaki, Kangtsung villagers claiming the border between Mokokchung-Longleng districts as Yonglok village, while in reality the chairman stated Anaki (C) village was under the jurisdiction of Shemnyüching village under Longleng district, and that the real bone of contention till this date was the “back door issue” of order for establishment of Anaki (C) village by the government carried out without the knowledge of Tamlu, Shemnyüching and Namsang villages.
While adding the land occupied by Kangtsung village was allotted by Namsang villagers with Lushei stream as the demarcation for cultivation, the chairman requested the authority in- charge to transfer Anaki (C) village established within Namsang, Shemnyüching jhumland to Longleng administrative control under Tamlu sub-division in order to bring normalcy in the area.
