A two day leadership camp was held at Holy Cross parish on July 18 and 19 with special focus on the changes and challenges of the youth in the society with Thomas Kikon, deputy director of Geology and mining as chief guest. In his message, chief guest said youth was a period of challenges and problems should be overcome step by step. He expressed that there should be understanding between youth and parents with love and compassion.
Holy Cross Parish Priest, Rev Fr Chacko K. welcomed the participants and explained the objectives of the camp. The parish youth led praise and worship and Rev Fr George invited the teenagers to be daring leaders who swim against the current.
According to a release issued from the Youth Center desk, the camp was a mixture of leadership building and faith enriching inputs from able resource persons which included Rev Fr. Anto Youth Director of Kohima Diocese, Rev Fr George principal, Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, Rev Fr Mariadoss Director of Shalom, Clinton, Rev. Fr. Peter Chinnapan and Rev. Fr. Sabu, parish priest, St Joseph Parish, Chumukedima.
The camp was also marked by the presence of parishners Thomas Kikon, Zumchilo Patton, Maria Mahung, Kaisa who shared their life experiences. Marcus Butler and Abhilash inspired the participants by their life stories. The participants voiced their problems and the problems of the youth at large. They also brainstormed on the possible solutions to these challenges. The evening concluded with planning and cultural programme.
