Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has stated that proposed Peren convention convened by Zeliang general public organisation on July 30 to discuss on nomenclature was not accepted by ZU (AMN) as it was not consulted for it. ZU also stated that ‘New ZIB’ was not an authorized or competent body to decide on nomenclature, constitution or election of ZU (AMN) apex organisation of Zeliangrong people.
It stated that only Tamelong convention of October 30 had the authority and mandate to constitute the original ZIB but its tenure expired on February 31 and that ‘New ZIB’ do not have right or authority to decide on the matters of ZU (AMN) and any decision taken by “invalid body” would be “invalid and void”
ZU (AMN) has therefore reiterated its stand not to attend the Peren convention and at the same time appealed Zealiongrong people not to attend the Peren convention.
Further, during its meeting on July 20 ZU (AMN) elected Irai Gangmei of Barak valley, Assam as its president, Dingsung Pamei of Tamelong, R. Simon Chawang of Senapati and Akhu Kamei of Henlep sub-division Cpur district as vice presidents of the union respectively for the tenure of 2010-12.
