EGWS for women’s welfare in Mon

Office of the Ever Green Welfare Society (EGWS) cum vocational and recreational centre with the main objective to work for welfare of women folks was inaugurated on July 17 at Mon town.
Ever Green Welfare Society secretary Ellen, in her key note address highlighted that purpose of setting up vocational and recreational centre was to lay a platform for a hidden society, especially women and to promote their life to participate in the mainstream of society.
According to the secretary, the society was formed after witnessing chain of problems faced by Naga women, especially Konyak women, like the dropouts, unemployment, divorce or separation, substance abuse, immoral and illegal activities, illiteracy, which were all in-fact co-related, like deficiency of education led to unemployment, which further caused early marriage resulting in divorce or separation, drug addiction out of depression and ultimately resulting in immoral and illegal activities such as smuggling, stealing etc. She also sought support and cooperation from all section of the society in keeping the Ever Green Welfare Society alive.
