Black market thriving in Mizoram

Black market is thriving in Mizoram these days. On July 20, the Inspectors of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department seized 12 more bags of supply rice in Aibawk.
According to official sources, the rice bags were misappropriated and sold at 800 rupees per bag by Lalropuia Aibawk Retailer No. 2. They were seized from the possession of one black marketer of Aibawk village.
Later, the Inspectors took them back to Zuangtui Supply Godown.
Meanwhile the Supply Department asked the people to cooperate the Department’s current drive against misappropriation of rice and gas cylinders. Secretary in charge of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, K. Riachho said, there will be no short supply or scarcity of rice and cooking gas if there is no misappropriation of the articles.
Talking to reporters in his office this afternoon, the Supply Secretary asked the people to cooperate the Department staff in the current drive against misappropriation of the essential commodities.
Referring to gas problem, the Secretary said, the gas cylinders received during June was a little over 80 thousand as against 2 lakh total connections in the State. He also said that the Gas Bottling Plant at Mualkhang is being upgraded to double its present capacity.
