JCC endorses unity pledge

Maintaining that it has been striving for “true unity and reconciliation” amongst different Naga political groups, the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of nine apex Naga tribal unions Thursday endorsed the recent “pledge and joint declaration” made by GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN and declared to extend “whole hearted” support and cooperation towards this end.
A joint statement released by presidents and of nine tribal unions also urged upon the leadership of merger groups not to waver in all their endeavours with wisdom and discernment from Almighty God towards true unity, reconciliation and peace so as to hasten the settlement of “Indo-Naga political issue.”
They also appealed to all the “like minded Naga tribal hohos, civil socities and Churches to extend their support and cooperation to strengthen the unity, reconciliation and peace process.
The JCC also called upon all the other Naga political groups to abide and adhere to the “Covenant of Reconciliation” both in spirit and letter in order to bring about total unification, reconciliation and lasting peace amongst the Nagas.
The signatories included Konyak union president S.Khoiwang Wangsa, Sümi Hoho president Hokishe Yepthomi, Kachari Tribal Council president S.K.Khemprai, Kuki Ingpi (Nagaland) president Asat Doungel, Khiamniungan tribal council vice president P.Heno, Phom People’s Council president Hamnyei Phom, Yimchungrü Tribal Council working president Kius Chuba, United Sangtam Likhium Bamji president Serangmong and Chang Khulei Setshang president K.Kaimang.
