Rape incidents condemned

  Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) has condemned the rape incident that took place on July 14 at Vidima village.
The Federation in press note by K. Vikuto Zhimomi, president and A. Taku Longkumar, general secretary said GBs were supposed to be well-behaved in many aspects as the custodian of customary laws in the society adding a GB had to be respected by citizen for being matured, responsible elderly person and trust worthy one. Terming the crime as ‘barbaric and heinous’ crime, said that such act has damaged the good image of GBs.
Further, the federation has terminated the accused GB’s membership from the federation with effect from July 22 and also urged responsible authority to take appropriate action and an exemplary to other GBs urged Chakro GBs Union to take immediate action against the culprit according to the customary law of the land.
Meanwhile, Dimapur Longjangtsur Telongjem has condemned the incident of July 10, where Mirza Ali, an auto rickshaw driver raped a minor girl. The Telongjem terming the incident as “brutal and grotesque act” committed to the victim vowed that it will not remain silent spectators but see to it that punishment was meted out to the accused. Union also called upon all responsible groups and individual to join hands in condemning brutal acts.

REPORT ABUSE
