To offer enablement, empowerment and enrichment to the students for meeting the challenges of life with confidence and success, the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has decided to introduce crucial transformation in its examination system. The new system has been attempted to accomplish through the conduct of an evaluation workshop for training key persons for conducting training programmes for teachers at different centers for enabling the reforms to be implemented effectively and quickly, said the NBSE chairperson Nini Meru in a statement released Thursday.
With regard to this, workshop would be conducted at administrative training institute (ATI), Kohima with NBSE officers and subject teachers from registered institutions of the board from July 19 to 23 informed Nini. The team of resource persons would be headed by Prof. H.S.Srivastava, COBSE consultant and former dean of NCERT. This change in examination system would enable children to favourably compete with students from other parts of the country, Nini said.
She also said that it was more specifically a move from the testing of memorization to the evaluation of higher mental abilities with multiple use making children competent for tackling different varieties of demanding situations which they were likely to face in life.
The new system would involve a comprehensive coverage of the total prescribed curriculum, which would discourage selective study and selective teaching. It would pre-empt and motivate students to acquire an intensive acquaintance with different subjects of study, Meru said.
