UCM blames Centre for Mao gate incident

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) Saturday said Central government should be held responsible for the violent incident at Ma o gate on May 5 that claimed life of two youths.
Leaders of UCM and other civil organizations, speaking at its 10th foundation held today at GM Hall Imphal, said that central government’s unilateral decision to allow NSCN (IM) general secretary, Thuingaleng Muivah to enter Manipur without prior consultant of the state government had led to the eruption of the incident.
Speaking on the occasion, Rehiang Chothe, president HERCAUN said that NSCN (IM) leaders should also be held responsible for instigating the people that resulted in the loss of lives of common people and injuring several others.
He also blamed the state security for its excessive acts towards the people.
He further said that no force in the world can break the unity of the people of Manipur as long as people remain united and would safeguard the territorial integrity drawn by bloods of forefathers.
Meanwhile, UCM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar clarified that the stand of the people not to use NH-39, and not target to any particular organization, community or tribe but against anti-social elements harassing drivers, truckers and passengers traveling on the section of the state highway.
