12-hr BJP state bandh on July 5

Responding to the call of its party high command to observe “Bharat Bandh” July 5 in protest against recent hike in fuel prices by the UPA government, the Nagaland BJP unit has decided to observe a 12-hour state-wide bandh, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., that day.
State BJP president M. Chuba Ao, in a statement released on Saturday, said the latest price hike of petroleum and allied products have given the public much concern of the future.
Calling upon all the public to raise their voices against the price rise, the state BJP unit has appealed for cooperation during the bandh.
The party has also sought cooperation from transporters, educational institutions and commercial establishments towards its call to protest against price rise.
Accusing UPA government of speaking in double tongue, the state BJP president said the government on one hand talks of stabilizing prices while initiate fuel price hike on the other hand. He claimed that another two fuel price hikes were expected before the year end.
The state BJP also compared the country’s petrol price, currently at Rs.56 (Delhi), with other countries viz. Pakistan Rs.26, Bangladesh Rs.22, Cuba Rs.19, Nepal Rs.34, Myanmar Rs.30, Afghanistan Rs.36 and Qatar Rs.30.
“It is time now for the people to speculate what is happening and the lake of decisions so that the common peoples normal lives are unaffected by inflation,” M. Chuba Ao said.
