The Kolkata Meghalaya House deal scam is yet to be solved. There is another about to surface. According to Shillong Times, The Meghalaya House in Guwahati is in a dilapidated condition, the State Government has admitted. Reacting to news reports about the poor state of the Meghalaya House, General Administration Department (GAD) Commissioner PW Ingty on Saturday said, “Yes, we agree that the Meghalaya House in Guwahati is in a bad shape.”
GAD, the custodian of the Meghalaya House, recently incurred Rs 22 lakh for “renovation work” in the building but could make not difference. According to the GAD Commissioner, the Government has now entrusted the PWD (Building) for the work to bring it back into shape. It was recently highlighted in a media report that the House located at Rehabari along AK Azad Road in Guwahati is in a deplorable condition. Visitors to the Meghalaya House were stated to have complained about filthy bed sheets and toilets, making it difficult to stay even for a night there. “Choosing the Meghalaya House for a night’s stay is the worst decision one could make,” a visitor said. “The House, with its shabby look and facilities, has failed to reflect the cleanliness and intrinsic beauty of Meghalaya,” according to the visitor, who added that any person having no knowledge about Meghalaya is bound to have a wrong impression about the State after visiting the House in Guwahati.
