Students enlightened on fashion, hospitality sector

The Global Open University, Nagaland (TGOUN) conducted a workshop on hotel management and fashion technology at the Kohima Campus on Saturday on July 3.
Mitali, senior lecturer, International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT) Delhi elaborated on scope, career options and current educational trends in the field of fashion technology while Soumitra Sen, Senior Lecturer, IHM, Guwahati engaged the audience by an intriguing demonstration on how to build a successful career in the hospitality sector. After the two sessions, an open discussion was initiated, where the audience clarified their queries and doubts. Personal counseling session was held after the workshop, where students were given a chance to interact with resource persons.
Earlier, the workshop began with introduction from chairperson Imlikokla, assistant administrative officer fashion technology, TGOUN by welcoming audience and guests from (IIFT), Delhi and IHM, Guwahati. The workshop concluded by a vote of thanks from I. Avinuo Kire, assistant administrative officer, TGOUN.
A press release issued by public relation cell Nchum Ovung highlighted that TGOUN was established under provisions of The Global Open University Act 2006 (Act 3 of 2006) of the Government of Nagaland with a view to introducing vocational, job oriented and employment centric education in the North-East in general and in the State of Nagaland in particular.
The state government had taken steps in strengthening the activities of The Global Open University, Nagaland for enabling the World Institution Building Programme (WIBP) to develop adequate infrastructure in Nagaland in general and at Wokha, Kohima and Dimapur in particular.
