Even as the Nagaland BJP unit called for 12-hour state-wide bandh on July 5, the Dimapur district administration, police, DMC and DDC have directed all government establishments and offices, institutions and business establishments within the district to function normally. Additional deputy commissioner Dimapur, Sedivikho Khro said all government institutions would function normally. He said public should not be harassed by bandh called by various organizations and political parties. He said adequate security measures have been arranged for safety of the general public in Dimapur district. SP Dimapur, Liremo Lotha said that the district police have made adequate security arrangement to thwart any untoward incident. Meanwhile, the DMC and Dimapur Chamber of Commerce (DCC) have directed all business establishments to remain open on July 5. DMC CEO, Nikhashe Sema said Sunday being a holiday, consecutive bandh on Monday would further inconvenience the citizens and directed all business establishments to open for the public. Opposing the proposed 12-hour bandh called by the state BJP unit, the DCC informed all business establishments to open and not to resort to closing down of shops on Monday. It may be mentioned that the state BJP unit has called for a 12-hour state-wide bandh on Monday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m, in response to the call of its party high command to observe “Bharat Bandh” on July 5 to protest against recent hike in fuel prices by the UPA government.
