Farmers’ training programme on rodent pest management awareness was conducted on July 2 at Changpang Circle under SDAO Baghty, Wokha district. SDAO Baghty, Mhao Lotha apprised participants on role of rodenticide chemicals and its merits and demerits, while resource person of the training, SDO (store) Dimapur, N. Jacob Yanthan explained about correlation of rodents and bamboo flowering, how rodent population increases and its dynamics, life cycle, habitation and migration etc.
The resource person also dwelled on cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical methods used as effective rodent control measures and further demonstrated on 38 various indigenous traps.
Agricultural officer, Eyingol Lotha also highlighted about the training cum awareness programme while head DB of EAC Changpang also exhorted the gathering and appreciated the department for imparting the training.
A total of 45 farmers from seven villages in the circle attended the programme Rodenticides like roban, repellant liquid, ratol powder and traps were distributed to participants.
