Debate on human rights held

Assam Rifles’ (AR) annual inter-sector debate competition on human rights was organized at ARTC & S, Sukhovi on July 2 and 3 where ten teams from AR sectors and ARTC & S participated. Commandant ARTC & S, Brigadier D. Anbu YSM, SM graced the occasion as chief guest.
The topic for the debate was “Human Rights – a stumbling block in the fight against terrorism and militancy in the country”.
40 participants debated in Hindi and English with 20 speakers each “for” and “against” the motion.
According to a press release issued by ARTC & S education officer, Lt. Col. N. S. Sidhu, the main aim of the debate was to sensitize troops about Human Rights and importance of its observance while dealing with the public.
Team of 21 sector was adjudged the best team while 10 sector team was declared the runners up. Assam Rifles team was also selected in the debate competition, who would take part at “Central Police Organizations North East Zone Debate Competition-2010” scheduled to be held at ARTC & S, Sukhovi on July 21.
