Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland state unit Monday claimed success of state-wide BJP-led NDA enforced “Bharat Bandh” on July 5 to protest against recent hike in fuel prices.
A press statement issued by BJP Nagaland media cell state convenor, Jaangsillung Gonmei expressed the party’s gratitude to the citizens and well wishers of every district of the state for showing “unprecedented” cooperation and support in enforcing the bandh and making it a grand success.
The statement said the people’s message to UPA government to roll back prices of petroleum, diesel and cooking gas, “give us back our life, or step down,” was clear.
Pointing out that the support of “Bharat Bandh” reflected the people’s exasperation of corruption and poor governance, state BJP unit held that the government had to respond accordingly to the people’s wishes immediately. “Unfavourable and irresponsible governance will bring unfavourable reactions,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the state BJP unit also thanked all the sections of social and political organizations, district administrations and the police for their moral support during the bandh.
Reaffirming its commitment towards the welfare of the people, state BJP also appreciated party workers and volunteers throughout the state, “who stood firm” to see the bandh through its success, despite trying instances.
