Water Quality Testing Lab in Kohima

The PHED Sub divisional Water Quality Testing Laboratory cum two-day training of Water Quality Testing was inaugurated on Tuesday at Kohima Water Treatment Plant (WTP), near Kohima Science College by minister for PHED, Dr. Ngangshi K Ao.
In his address, Dr. Ngangshi said it was a “Red letter day” for the PHED department and would help the people now to get better opportunity to drink potable water. He said that the department should give potable water fit for human consumption. The minister also said that the Laboratory would be a great help especially during epidemics and floods, as it would test the quality of water.
Further, the minister informed that gradually testing laboratory would be set up in all the districts and sub divisional head quarters and lauded Er. Kevisekho Kruse, Executive Director, CCDU and his team for their initiative in the noble venture which would be a great help to the people. Exhorting the gathering PHED secretary Zhaleo Rio called the departmental staff to collect water samples and find out the quality of water in the state.
Giving the highlight on activities of Water Quality Monitoring Surveillance Program in the state, Er. Kevisekho Kruse, Executive Director, CCDU said with the formal inauguration of Water Quality Testing Laboratory at Kohima, there are now five Water Quality Testing Laboratory in the state namely - Dimapur, Peren, Wokha, Mokokchung and Kohima and the rest six districts would be taken up this year.
Manager Marketing Development Omesh Boni was also present. Earlier, the function was chaired by Er. K. Khetovi Sumi, Chief Engineer, PHED and the vote of thanks proposed by Er Mhondamo Ovung, Addl CE PHED.
