WAC objects change of nomenclature

Members of Walford Area Council, (WAC) Dimapur have objected the decision to change the nomenclature of Walford colony to Northern Angami and have appealed to Dimapur Deputy Commissioner to revoke the notification which was issued on June 18, 2009.
A letter addressed to Deputy Commissioner Maongwati by 16 signatories which include head GB, chairman, vice chairman, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and member representatives of Walford Area Council stated that Walford area was a government recognized colony under Dimapur town with no special relevance to any particular section of people or community vide the Additional Deputy Commissioner Dimapur order on September 7, 1990 and established with full functionary without misunderstanding from any quarter within the jurisdiction of the Act.
Signatories also stated that Walford Area Council had been constituted as governed by Nagaland village council Act, 1978.
Further, Walford Area Council in its meeting held on June 26 resolved to object and protest the decision of changing the nomenclature of Walford colony.
