Twenty-six talented and promising singers from all over Nagaland on Wednesday made to the next round of the Naga Idol 5.10 after two days of screening held at Mopungchuket and Impur.
The twenty six contestants were selected after going through an accappella round held at Students’ Library Hall, Mopungchuket on July 6 and a group song presentation round at the Centenary Hall, Impur held today.
The judges at the screening Gugs Chishi (Director, Music Task Force), Lipokmar Tzudir (Music teacher), and Tali Angh (musician) expressed their strong feeling that the contestants held great promise to become great singers in the days to come.
In fact, the Hunting Boots Inc –the organizer of the Naga Idol 5.10 – planned to select only 24 finalists to enter the voting round.
However due to the request of the judges, the Hunting Boots Inc consented to introduce two ‘wild card’ through which two contestants who showed great potentials to become great singers were given the opportunity to enter the voting round.
One of the judges, Gugs Chishi commented that the judges saw outstanding qualities in many of the contestants and said there were some deserving cases who given a chance, would definitely do a lot more better in the next rounds of the contest.
With the completion of the screening round, the selected 26 finalist will start song recordings and prepare for taking part in the other Naga Idol 5.10 programmes.
The voting round would be the main attraction of the show since the finalists would be recording songs, which would be converted into video cassettes and aired through the local cable distributor all over the state.
The public after watching the Idol contestants would be able to vote for their favourite idol contestant through a nominally priced voting card which would be made available in all the pockets of the state.
The Hunting Boots Inc has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mupongchuket Village Council for allowing the MSM Library cum Museum and Rest House and also for allowing the Naga Idol 5.10 screening of contestants to be held at the village.
The Hunting Boots Inc also conveyed gratitude to Mokokchung DC Lithrongla G Chishi who graced the inaugural programme of the screening round as the chief guest and the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) for lodging the contestants at the ABAM rest house and also for allowing the ABAM Centenary Hall, Impur where the last day of the screening was held.
The Hunting Boots Inc also acknowledged the Impur Baptist Church Women Department for taking pains and providing home made food to the contestants and the organizers; the Impur Mission Hospital for providing free treatment to two contestants who fell ill; the three judges and the local press media for their converge.
