Pakistani Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) agent Munir Khan (22), arrested from West Tripura on July 4, has revealed names of 32 people, including those of government employees and businessmen, who were recruited as ISI’s over ground workers.
Quoting Munir’s confession, police officials here today said the ISI and other international terrorist organisations were using Tripura as their Indian corridor from Bangladesh. ISI has been able to spread its network in Northeastern states through the Indian associates, reported UNI.
‘’Following Munir’s link, we have already arrested 12 people from various parts of the state and out of them six have already confirm their link with the ISI,’’ said a senior police official.
‘’BSF is put on highest alert and asked them to intensify their vigil in sensitive border locations,’’ he stated. Munir was still being grilled in the special branch cell by the intelligence officers and sources claimed that police could get a major breakthrough from him.
Munir said he was trained by ISI in Pakistan and had been assigned to monitor Indian Army movements in Punjab sector. He was supposed to travel to Punjab from Agartala but due to some unknown reasons he came back from Guwahati and was travelling back to Dhaka before being arrested.
Revealing the details of Indian associates of ISI, police officials said, all the facilitators were engaged in well paid contract for guiding and facilitating the travel of ISI activists through Agartala to other Indian cities.
