Sushma leads BJP fact finding team to Manipur

Opposition leader in the Lok Shaba, Sushma Swaraj along with deputy leader of BJP in the Rajya Sabha, SS Ahluwalia and MP Bijoya Chakravarty arrived Imphal Thursday afternoon to take stock of the situation after the lifting of the blockades on national highways 39 and 53 where the state faces artificial food.
After arrival, the BJP delegation held a consultative meeting with party workers and leaders in the state at GM Hall Imphal.
Earlier, speaking to media person on her arrival at Imphal Airport, Sushma Swaraj said “we have come here to assess the situation (of scarcity of essential goods) and raise the issue of grievances faced by the people of Manipur on the floor of the house”.
Sushma said the report of their findings with regard to high prices of essential commodities and acute scarcity of petroleum products in the state will be tabled in both houses of the Parliament.
Source at the BJP Manipur unit said that national leaders would meet with representatives of civil society organisations to hear grievances.
BJP state unit Sh Shantikumar said that both Sushma and Ahluwalia had arrived to obtain first hand account before raising the Manipur issue in both the Houses of the Parliament.
Earlier, the BJP leaders were accorded a warm welcome by the Manipur BJP unit leaders and workers at the Imphal airport at around 3 pm. Before attending the party workers’ meeting, the team met with the Governor at the Raj Bhavan
