‘Tuluni’ celebrated in Kohima, Mokokchung

In Kohima, Sumi community celebrated Tuluni festival at Agri Colony Kohima. The celebrations which was held at official residence of Lt Col (Retd) SI Jakhalu, Secretary Rajya Sainik Board, (Nagaland), were graced by the presence of a large number of dignitaries from the Army, the Assam Rifles and civil.
The celebrations began with a traditional welcome being accorded to Maj. Gen. R. N. Singh SM, VSM General Officer Commanding, Spearhead Division, who graced the occasion from the Army and Maj. Gen. Sandeep Singh SM, VSM, IGAR (North), accompanied by his lady wife, Yashmi Singh.
A large number of Officers and ladies from IGAR (North) and 16 Assam Rifles also graced the festivities.
Among civilian dignitaries who attended the function were Talitemjen Ao, Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Nagaland, Pious Lotha, Addl Advocate General Nagaland and others.
Both Maj. Gen. R. N. Singh and Maj. Gen. Sandeep Singh addressed the gathering, and extended their warm greetings the to Sumi community on the occasion of Tuluni festival. They also reminisced about their long and cherished association with the Naga people, which began decades ago when they were both young officers.
Main highlights of the celebrations included presentation of Sumi folk songs by various artistes, skits, and also a lively group-dance to the tunes of Waka Waka, catching the flavor of the ongoing World Cup
MOKOKCHUNG: Members of Sumi Community, under the aegis of Sumi Hoho Mokokchung Thursday celebrated Tuluni festival with much pomp and gaiety.
According to a press release issued by Kaniho Sumi, Secretary of Sumi Hoho Mokokchung, the festival which has not been celebrated in Mokokchung for a long time was celebrated in a grand manner as per Sumi traditions and customs. More than a thousand Sumi members residing at Mokokchung celebrated the festival marked by traditional songs and folk dances including the Sumi Totimi Hoho of Mokokchung. The release also lauded Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao, Minister PHED, Er. Ghokuto Assumi SE Highways Kohima, DC Mokokchung, Toshi PS to Minister PHED for their support which made celebration of Tuluni festival successful.
