Expressing deep concern over the delay in declaration of degree results by the Nagaland University, the CEC NUTA on Friday blamed the Vice Chancellor (VC) for delay in the result.
NUTA president Rosemary Dzuvichu and general secretary Dr. N. Venuh in a joint statement said that the teaching community and staff of Examination section had requested that Examination section should not be shifted till the Degree results were declared as it involved elaborate software and computerizing, which was well set up in the university office at Kohima. They said the shifting thousands of examination answer scripts and materials/files was not feasible.
NUTA said the VC had initially agreed but soon changed his mind and directed the Examination section to shift to Lumami immediately.
The end result was inadequate space for examination related work and lack of proper software set up and bundles of confidential examination scripts lying in rooms unattended, at Lumami, NUTA said.
The university teachers said that the examination result work has now been shifted to the School of Engineering and Management at Dimapur, on June 4, 2010.
NUTA said the shifting of the crucial work done without any written official order and in violation of financial codal procedures and sanctions that continue, till date.
NUTA also strongly objected to the VC in violating all codal procedures by hiring another new software company in terms of crores, without any valid recommendations, for improvising the examination software.
As per rules, only the University Examination section staff should be involved for the confidential work, after due training on new software was provided by the Company, NUTA said.
“The mismanagement, illogical and careless action of the Vice Chancellor in dealing with the crucial system of the University Examination section has resulted in confusion and delay of results,” it added.
NUTA also flayed the “irresponsible statement” purportedly made by the NSF president at the ANCSU Rally on July 8 blaming the “Nagaland University faculties”
NUTA demanded that the Chief Rector of the University to intervene in the matter.
