For the first time in Kohima a fifteen-day workshop on theatre designing began at State Academy Hall, Kohima, Saturday. The workshop is focused at giving holistic knowledge on theatre including its basic processes of theatre designing.
President of Nagaland Theatre Fraternity, Ikato Y. Kiho, said youths in Nagaland should be encouraged in designing field and not just acting in theatre.
He pointed out that while a theatre designer can manage acting, an actor finds it hard to deal with designing process.
National School of Drama New Delhi, of which Ikato is a third year student, had earlier organized production oriented workshop in various parts of Nagaland including Dimapur, Mokokchung and Zunheboto.
There are eight participants in the theatre designing workshop. The first five days of the workshop would be concentrated on introduction to subjects that include costume making, make-up, property making, light designing, set designing and basics of acting. The following ten days, each participant would be made to create a story each and make a whole model set for the story.
The workshop is being organized by the Nagaland Theatre Fraternity in collaboration with NEZCC Dimapur and Art and Culture Department.
