The band Daughty Growthy formed in 1997 will be taking on the stage for the last time on July 17 starting 5.30pm at local ground, Kohima.
“This concert would be our farewell concert, dubbed as “loud louder loudest”, said the band members at a news conference on Saturday at KPC office, Kohima.
The band members comprising Bendang, Along, Samen, Lipok and Kenny Metha, will be playing original covers songs on the farewell concert, which would also see the supporting acts of Menguseii Suokhrie, Malice Aforethought, From Within and Damn Silence.
The main sponsor of the concert is Eleken Pvt Ltd and co sponsored by TNT, Jamir Sound System Shillong, Metal Gear and Eastern Mirror. Tickets for the concert have been priced at Rs.50 per head.
Meanwhile, the band has expressed gratitude to the sponsors and also all the music lovers to witness the concert on July 17.
According to a brief hand out issued by the band, the group was formed in 1997 by playing small gigs and opening for local bands. The band had a major break through when they bagged the 1st runner-up title in the “Winter Open Beat Contest”.
The members back then were Bendang, Along, Samen and Lipok, all studying in high school. Apong was the drummer from 1997-2001, and was replaced by Kenny Metha in the year 2001 with Among Jamir playing the bass.
Subsequently the band decided to strictly flow and maintain a distinct musical genre (Trash Metal) and for the first time, organized a concert in 2001 under the theme “A Night of Rapid metal”.
The band contested in the 1st National Hornbill Rock beat contest 2006 and topped to the finals along side 8 other bands, out of the total number 41 band across the India, bagging the best drummer’s award.
