NBCC Choir consisting of 15 male members, 4 NBCC officials led by Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung, general secretary, NBCC ministered at some selected Churches in USA and participated in the 20th Baptist World Alliance (BWA) Congress at Honolulu, Hawaii held from July 27 to August 1.
The team arrived safely at Boston, USA on July 20 and received a warm Naga welcome by the families of Rev. Dr. Mar Imsong, executive director of the Massachusetts Baptist Multicultural Ministries, Bedford) and Tali Jamir (associate pastor of the First Baptist Church Waltham, Massachusetts).
The Nagaland delegates (Choir) have been ministering the Baptist Churches: First Baptist Church Bed Fort, First Baptist Church Cape Code, Boston and Willow Creek Baptist Church, and several other Baptist Churches in and around Elgin, Chicago.
The Naga choir participated in the 20th Baptist World Congress by presenting special Music both in western and Naga traditional tunes at the main worship service for 12 minutes, focus group meeting for 15 minutes and 20 minutes at the International Musical Festival events.
The choir’s vibrant performance impressed the Baptists around the world enabling them to experience the rich Naga culture and singing gift God had bestowed upon the Nagas.
BWA Congress is held once in five years, the last being held at Birmingham (UK), 2005. The 20th BWA Congress at Honolulu, Hawaii with its Theme “Hear the Spirit” was attended by Baptists from 105 Countries.
The messages implicated the Baptists (being the Global Church) to be engaged in holistic demonstration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, whereby the call to liberation of the humanity from any form of bondage as inseparable from the Ministry of proclamation.
