State to observe ‘Cleanliness Drive’

The state government has decided to observe “Cleanliness Drive” in all the district headquarters including the state capital Kohima through mass social work on August 6. The social work will be carried with active participation of all government employees, Municipal Councils and the general public.
In this connection, government has informed that all staff and materials available with all government departments in all district headquarters would be engaged in the drive. Heavy and medium vehicles with drivers have been directed to report to the respective deputy commissioners (DC) by 1pm on August 5 while POL requirement of vehicles would be arranged by the responsible department. DCs will be leading the cleanliness Drive and also submit a detailed report on or before August 9 as regard to the attendance of various departments and quality of work, turnout and suggestions for future drive. Advisors and the members of the municipal and town councils would be responsible for mobilizing the public of the area/ward/colony for undertaking the social work. After getting ward wise report through the local administrative officers, DCs would work out detailed work plan for each ward/colony/sector and assign department for each and allocate the equipments available such as excavators/dumpers/tipper truck/tools.
A notification issued by the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Lalthara also directed that the Health & Family Welfare department shall undertake special hygiene and sanitation checks in all hotels/restaurant/eating joints to ensure that the provision of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act (PFAD) are strictly followed.
Meanwhile, power department has been informed to repair and ensure that the high mast lighting installed at different locations of Kohima/Dimapur and other towns were in working order.
Department wise work allocation in Kohima
In view of the mass social work to be held at the State capital on August 6, department wise work allocation in the town has been detailed as follows:
National Highway 61 from IG Stadium to High School Junction-Women Development and SCERT; Kohima Arts College via Don Bosco School to Pezielietse Junction - Higher Education and YR& Sports; Assembly Complex to High School Junction, Billy Graham Road till Kohima College -Science and Technology IT, RD, Nagaland Assembly, and Secretariat staff; High School Junction to Pezielietse Junction- Tourism, Art & Culture, Social Welfare and DUDA; Pezielietse Junction to Kezieke market -Power Department and School Education Department; Kezieke to Razhu Point-PWD Mechanical and Land Resource Department; Razhu Point to Old Assembly Junction via Old NST-Horticulture and Transport Department; Razhu point to TCP Junction via D.Block -Road & Bridges; TCP Gate to Para Medical -Co-Operation, Geology & Mining, Planning; TCP to PWD Office Junction - Fire, Irrigation & FC and IPR ; PWD Office Junction to PHQ Point -Civil Supplies, Soil and Urban Development; Classic point to Raj Bhavan area -Police Department; Classic Junction via Ladies Mile Road to TCP-Vety& AH, Agri and Sericulture; PHQ Junction to Old MH to New MH via BSNL-Prisons, Home Guards, Housing, Law & Justice; PHQ to Mohonkola AG Road Junction- Fisheries, CAWD; Martyrs’ Park to PHQ Junction via Bethel -Industries; Mohokola AG Junction to Lerie Junction -forest, labour and employment, PHED.
